Black & White, But Red All Over?

I know: it feels like clickbait. It looks like a reach. It exudes fake news. But New York could, theoretically, vote for Trump.

Of course, this assertion relies on the underlying concept of a fairly tallied election, which is a pipe dream in such a traditionally deep blue state. Setting that hurdle aside for a moment, let's look at what's happening on the ground.

Democrat Sammy Ravelo may be the canary in the coal mine for Excelsior State Democrats. ather. Ravelo, who is, in his own words, a Gulf War veteran, 9/11 first responder, undercover detective, and retired NYPD lieutenant, is now a Republican. Perhaps more to the point, a MAGA Republican.

Whether Ravelo is simply a politician who noticed the ground shift under his feet or a true convert is purely academic. The fact is, Ravelo held a pro-Trump rally in the Bronx's District 16, where 28% are Hispanic, and 37% report speaking a language other than English.

And of course, we know how successful Trump's Bronx rally was, despite the desperate left's attempts to downplay it. Lastly, recall how close the gubernatorial election was two years ago when Lee Zeldin almost beat out Kathy Hochul.

    Blackballed

A baseball fan was told she couldn't enter Citi Field to watch a Mets game unless she removed her MAGA hat. She is suing the Mets for $2 million, citing emotional distress (ps: every person who has endured similar discrimination should follow in her footsteps).

Aura Moody of Saint Albans, Queens was told by Citi Field staff to remove her "Make America Great Again" baseball cap because it was "too political." She offered to put it in her bag, but staffers didn't trust that she wouldn't simply don it again once in her seat.

Moody, who was attending the August 14 Mets-A's game with fellow members of the Queens Village Republican Club, was forced to return to her car to deposit the hat.

She is suing the Mets based on racial discrimination, as she witnessed other white fans in wearing MAGA gear. Moody is representing herself in the case.

Trump's Uniondale rally was a smashing success. As reported by our friends at The Connecticut Centinal, the Donald packed the Coliseum on Long Island. What's more, New Yorkers lined the streets of Manhattan just to see him on his merry way.

Nassau County has traditionally been purple, but decidedly left-leaning. That said, change is in the air, and has been for a few years. Recall the red wave that swept through Nassau in 2021, when Republicans picked up several seats in the state congressional races.

Add to the mix a pox of illegal alien crime due to border czar Kamala Harris' lax immigration policy, and an increasing number of New Yorkers are fed up.

ps: it's not just New York Dems who are seeing the light...

The Manhattan is a new media outlet combatting the Leftist narrative in NYC. We love The Big Apple, we want it to succeed and prosper and are committed to revealing how flawed ‘progressive’ policy is ruinous. As crime spikes, the homeless crisis balloons, schools continue to degrade, and quality of life plummets, we’re determined to help effectuate change. The Manhattan will fearlessly chronicle the problems and try to offer solutions. We won’t shy away from issues, we will lean into them.
