Thanks to a recent surge in support for Republican candidate, Lee Zeldin, New York governor, Kathy Hochul, is now scrambling to hold on to an election that is moving further out of her grasp according to recent polls.

In a Trafalgar Group poll that was released late Monday night, Zeldin had a slight lead with 48.4 percent followed by Hochul's 47.6. While the margin is slim, Zeldin has enough of a lead to send Democrats into a panic.

It was reported by the New York Times on Tuesday that Vice President, Kamala Harris, and failed presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, are being sent to Manhattan with Attorney General, Letitia James, on Thursday to campaign with Hochul. The move has been seen as the last hope for Hochul as Zeldin continues to pull ahead in the polls with the election a week away.

In addition to sending in Harris and Clinton, the Democratic Governors Association (DGA) has also formed a super PAC in New York to contribute money to Hochul's campaign, although an amount has not been specified. The DGA initially had no intentions of contributing to Hochul's campaign, but with Zeldin's late surge and panicking Democrats, something had to be done.

With the midterms a week away, it appears that Hochul and the Democrats' last-ditch effort to save the election are too little too late. With crime rates and rent soaring and the economy, inflation, and crime as the leading issues for voters this election - Hochul is going to need more than Kamala and Hillary to save her.
