Donald Trump gives statement prior to entering the court room this morning (YouTube screencap).

Before the opening gavel today, President Trump gave an off-the-cuff statement to the press in the hallway outside of the New York Supreme Court. His message was simple: the trial is "election interference". Further, Trump claimed, he has paid his bond of $175 million through a California bonding company.

The issue, he explained, is that Attorney General Letitia James ("the worst attorney general in the country") doesn't approve of the bonding company Trump's team chose to use. Without naming the judge presiding over the case, Trump closed by reminding those in attendance that Justice Juan Merchan is "an extremely crazed judge, the most overturned judge in New York State...you know who it is, I don't have to mention names, I want to be nice, I want to be very nice...it's a very, very sad day in America."
