Today, four children were slashed with knives at three separate public schools, a woman's braless bid to go viral on the NYC-to-Dublin video portal succeeded, and Mayor Eric Adams proposed filling a lifeguard gap with migrants.
Four students were stabbed in three incidents across the metro today in a grisly sign of increasing crime in New York public schools. In knife fight at the High School of Graphic Communications in Hell's Kitchen, two teen boys were cut, one in the chest and the other in the face. The student with the chest wound is in serious condition.
In Queens, an 18 year-old was set upon by a group of teen boys outside of the unimaginatively named Queens High School For Teaching. He was stabbed once in the back, and twice in the left arm. He was treated at Manhasset Hospital.
At Evander Childs Educational Center in the Bronx, a gang fight resulted in another slashing.
It's the old "Erin go braless" joke come to life. An adventurous young woman decided to bare her chest at the NYC-Dublin video portal...and as a result, the problem-plagued venue has been shut down.
As reported by ABC:
The livestreaming public art installation known as “ The Portal ” made its North American debut on May 8, with a circular screen set up below New York City’s iconic Flatiron Building and a companion screen on Dublin, Ireland's main thoroughfare, O’Connell Street, with city landmarks including the Spire in the backdrop...Exhibit organizers touted the interactive display as a unique way to “embrace the beauty of global interconnectedness"...But just days into a run that was to have continued into the fall, the portals were shut down Monday night after videos spread on social media of people behaving badly — from an OnlyFans model in New York baring her breasts to Dubliners holding up swastikas and displaying images of New York’s Twin Towers burning on 9/11.

If Mayor Adams has a brand, it's vacillating between moments of clearheaded leadership and boneheaded gaffes. Mark today as an example of the latter. In what may have been an off-the-cuff remark reminiscent of his 9/11 "see anything in New York" comment, Adams suggested that unemployed migrants could fill the shortage of New York lifeguards due to the surprising assertion that they are "excellent swimmers."
