The Trump trial verdict is in: guilty on all 34 counts. For all those who had hoped for a measured, thoughtful verdict, welcome to the machine.
Juan Merchan was given a job, and he produced the desired result, legality be damned. The trial was always short on substance and long on political persecution. Now it has the veneer of legitimacy, at least until appeal.
As deflating as the result is for those who had hoped for something resembling sanity, hold your heads high. As Trump said after the verdict was read:
"It was a rigged trial by a conflicted judge...the real verdict is going to be November 5th by the people...the people know what happened, you have a Soros-backed DA...I'm fighting for our country, fighting for our constitution...our country's gone to hell, we don't have the same country anymore...we're a nation in decline...millions and millions of people pouring into our country right now, from prisons and from mental institutions, terrorists...we will fight for our constitution, this is far from over."
To all those who participated in this miscarriage of justice, reap the whirlwind.
