Welcome Your New US Attorney General...Matt Gaetz, Youngest Since Bobby Kennedy

In a move that is sure to shake up the Uniparty, president-elect Donald Trump has selected Matt Gaetz for US Attorney General.

The US AG has historically been a role for gray-haired men. Serious faces who sit for oil portraits. Well, this administration is anything but curmudgeonly. Matt Gaetz, the firebrand out of Florida, the Trump loyalist when times got tough, the outspoken, charismatic, and at times, controversial congressman has been named America's preeminent lawyer.

At 42, Gaetz is the youngest AG since Bobby Kennedy was named to the position in 1961. RFK was 35. Gaetz could hardly be any different from the outgoing AG, Merrick Garland, who is quiet and retiring, even a bit shy in front of the bright lights. Gaetz thrives under the spotlight, welcomes the pressure.

Gaetz is decidedly outside the Ivy League club to which many past AGs belong. He attended William and Mary Law School, an excellent program to be sure, but not full of the gravitas and pomp conferred by, say, a Yale Law degree. The only other AG in recent memory not to have attended an Ivy-or-equivalent law school was another Trump appointee, Jeff Sessions, who received his JD from the Univ. of Alabama.

Hopefully Gaetz's term will run more smoothly.

At any rate, the appointment is a victory for Trump loyalists. Gaetz is not a neocon, nor one who has publicly gone against Trump, such as Marco Rubio, or the new Senate Majority Leader John Thune, elected in a secret Senate vote today.
