    Doggone It

It all started on Friday: a series of knife attacks across the city that left an ugly trail of blood and three fatalities.

On Friday morning, Alfred Soto went to a neighbor's apartment to discuss an ongoing argument about his dog. Soto lived in the Tower West apartments, a subsidized high rise. Four or five men attacked Soto, one of them stabbing him in the chest and stomach.

The men fled in a U-Haul truck on W. 96th St. Soto was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, where he died.

On Saturday morning, a fight in the dawn light on a Brooklyn subway platform left a victim with a stab wound to his stomach. At the Bay-50th St. stop on the D Train, an argument among three men led to the stabbing.

The victim, 31, was taken to NYU-Langone Hospital around 6:00 am. He is expected to recover fully. Police are seeking two suspects.

Two men and a woman were stabbed at different locations around the city today. Both male victims are dead, the woman is in critical condition at Weill Cornell Medical Center.

The perpetrator, Ramon Rivera, 51, lives in the Bellevue Men's Shelter. He stabbed each of his victims multiple times. He has seven felony convictions in New York, and a criminal record in Florida.

The first attack took place in Chelsea, on 8th Ave. and W. 19th St. The victim, 30, was a construction worker. He was stabbed in the stomach around 8:20 am and died at Bellevue Hospital.

Chelsea is generally quiet, a neighborhood dotted with art galleries--not the place you'd expect to see a fatal knife attack.

From there, the assailant headed east, to the FDR Drive at E. 30th St., where he stabbed a 60 year-old man multiple times. He was also treated at Bellevue, and passed away there as well.

The killer then moved north, to 1st Ave. and E. 42nd St. Just before 11:00 am, he stabbed his third victim, a woman of indeterminate age, in the chest.

Police believe the stabbings are unrelated. As reported in the New York Post, a cab driver is responsible for the man's arrest. The hack witnessed the third attack, and tailed the murderer while calling the police.

Another friendly reminder to practice situational awareness: all three of the Bellevue shelter resident's attacks were done out in the open in broad daylight.
