Well that was easy! All it took was months of media attention, a new police chief, and Trump being elected president for the NYPD to begin cleaning up the pit of hell known as Roosevelt Avenue in Queens.
For years, Roosevelt Ave. between 74th St. and 111th St. has been a magnet for illicit massage businesses. The Biden-Harris illegal alien onslaught brought a new wrinkle to the den of debauchery: aggressive illegals hawking ill-gotten goods. Recently installed NYPD chief Tom Donlon came to survey the area just over a month ago. Now he's taking action.

The "market of sweethearts" is arguably the capital of sex work in Gotham. Shortly after that visit, six brothels were raided by the NYPD and shut down. Now the department has trained its eye on illegal vendors.
Under mayors Rudy Giuliani and Mike Bloomberg, unlicensed street vendors were wary of police. Their wares were displayed in a manner that could be hastily gathered in order to escape law enforcement. During Bill De Blasio's two terms, street vending became more common. The wave of illegal aliens added fuel to the fire.
Sprawling displays of stolen Apple products (AirPods are the most common item) sell for half of their retail price. Knockoff Louis Vuitton handbags, jewelry and wristwatches, household items stolen from pharmacies such as toothpaste and laundry detergent--all pushed by insistent salespeople, many of whom do not speak English.
Last night, NYPD trucks arrived on the scene and carted away loads of merchandise. It's a good thing, but it's a shame it has taken so long for Donlon to act. The vendors are likely return. Time will tell if this is a campaign by the police, or a token act.
Under the hyper-progressive watch of DA Alvin Bragg and AG Letitia James, arresting the vendors would not result in jail time, so perhaps the only avenue to discourage vendors is to take their goods.
