One of the lawfare cases brought against president-elect Donald Trump has been suspended indefinitely. The sentencing by Judge Juan Merchan was scheduled to take place this week. It was delayed last week while prosecutors decided how to proceed in light of Trump's recent reelection.
The move leaves options open for the prosecution, but it has been received in the court of public opinion as an admission of defeat. The case was built on misdemeanors reclassified as felonies, expired statutes of limitation re-codified as in force, and shaky, contradictory testimony.

It remains to be seen whether Merchan, Bragg, or Letitia James will face any disciplinary actions for their roles in the farcical trial, which took place in the lead-up to a national election in a blatant attempt to sway voters away from Trump.
As the November 5 ballot box results attest, the American people were not convinced by the trial and 34 felony charges. A reminder for discussions of the matter with friends and family, as pointed out by media personality Megyn Kelly: without a sentence, there is no conviction.
