Trump Administration Cancels NYC Congestion Pricing

February 19, 2025

In a huge win for NYC commuters, the Trump administration has shut down the controversial congestion pricing scheme for vehicles traveling south of 60th Street in Manhattan.

The change comes after fits and starts for the program meant to fund subway expansion and updates. The pricing scheme was postponed for the November elections, started up in January, and after a mere 1.5 months, the federal government has excised a municipal hindrance from our lives.

Another funding option for the MTA was to enforce existing laws and crack down on farebeating on trains and buses, but Gov. Kathy Hochul opted for the camera-intensive approach (with more surveillance built in to the system).

This is a developing story.

The Manhattan is a new media outlet combatting the Leftist narrative in NYC. We love The Big Apple, we want it to succeed and prosper and are committed to revealing how flawed ‘progressive’ policy is ruinous. As crime spikes, the homeless crisis balloons, schools continue to degrade, and quality of life plummets, we’re determined to help effectuate change. The Manhattan will fearlessly chronicle the problems and try to offer solutions. We won’t shy away from issues, we will lean into them.
