In a huge win for NYC commuters, the Trump administration has shut down the controversial congestion pricing scheme for vehicles traveling south of 60th Street in Manhattan.

The change comes after fits and starts for the program meant to fund subway expansion and updates. The pricing scheme was postponed for the November elections, started up in January, and after a mere 1.5 months, the federal government has excised a municipal hindrance from our lives.

Another funding option for the MTA was to enforce existing laws and crack down on farebeating on trains and buses, but Gov. Kathy Hochul opted for the camera-intensive approach (with more surveillance built in to the system).
