Cultural Marxism is the modern Progressive direct descendant of Karl Marx’s theories of a struggle between oppressors and the oppressed. Marx’s goal, echoed by today’s Progressives, was to provoke radical change in society by exploiting the plight of a group of people in order to bring about a “transformation” with the promise of a better society. 

Both Modern Conservatism and Classical Liberalism hold the view that, as Thomas Paine said, “Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one.” More recently, Nobel Laureate F. A. Hayek said, “almost any attempt to put upon the government a great many tasks is bound to lead to dictatorial regimes.” And Thomas Sowell sees the Progressive / Marxist notion of “equity” as the thief of potential.

But according to Marx and Progressives, oppressors (bourgeoisie / capitalists / white people / cis-gender feminazi TERFs) with their racist leaders, like Thomas Paine, James Madison and Benjamin Franklin, have created a post colonialist society which perpetuates oppression. At its core, Progressivism is based on Critical Theory which claims there is no objective reality and that knowledge and truth are manufactured by political “Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS)” used by oppressors to maintain power over the oppressed.  Therefore, any evidence that Critical Theory is wrong must have been devised by the oppressors’ IKS and should be ignored.

So today, anyone who thinks racism is not at the root of every disparity, must be caught up in racist MAGA conspiracy theories. And previously, anyone who believed that Marxism created a food shortage so severe it resulted in cannibalism was caught up in “right deviationist thinking.” 

This Progressive view of reality as subjective, and of society as a power struggle between oppressors and oppressed is a direct descendent of Karl Marx’s work through Marx’s disciples who left Germany and set up shop at Columbia University in the 1930s.  When Marxism failed, they renamed it Critical Theory. Then they set out to justify their views with a vast array of academic nonsense reasoning and pseudo-science. 

Progressives try to distance themselves from “Marxism” and say Critical Theory is just an academic discipline which they don’t follow.  They are NOT MARXISTS they insist, and Cultural Marxism is a right-wing conspiracy theory.

Yet they promise their benevolent government will “democratically” control and redistribute everything, including at least healthcare, housing, transportation, energy, food, education, retirement, wages and anything else they decide is a “right.”  Or maybe, everyone gets a universal basic income which is paid for by Andrew Yang with AI robots.

Never mind the cost, the result will be something like Europe, but with only a little more socialism and without riots.  Everyone will walk to work, (if they want to work,) safely with bumpouts, or ride bikes in bike lanes. And there will be fun, government-run things like high-speed trains which they promise will be profitable. 

Please forget that Lenin, Mao, Kim, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Minh, Castro, Guevara, Chavez, Maduro, Allende and others, invariably promised that their leadership will usher in a “Democratic-Socialist” society where THEIR party, benevolently represented the “interests of the people.” And never you mind that the results all had happy names but sad outcomes. Forget also that their governments all had elections, and were called the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the People's Republic of China, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.  THIS time Progressives have got it right, and things will turn out great once they’re in charge of everything.

Also, please ignore evidence (no doubt a fabrication by racist IKS) that when the state runs things, the bureaucrats in charge are mainly incentivized to perpetuate and grow their authority, suppress dissent, and dole out favors to their friends and supporters at NGOs and Non-Profits while claiming to be helping the downtrodden.  Also forget that in the 20^th Century, this thinking led to the death by starvation or in work / indoctrination camps of over 100 million people in places where such theories took hold. All such government-controlled economies failed, including Chile before the Pinochet coup, Venezuela, despite its vast oil reserves, and China and Vietnam are hanging by a thread supported by American consumers lured by cheap electronics, with bureaucrats running for the door.

This is “Cultural” Marxism because Critical Theory begat many offshoots based on cultural rather than economic attributes, including Critical Race Theory (POC are oppressed by whites), Critical Queer Theory (alphabet+ are oppressed by the heteronormative) Critical Gender Theory (non-binary genders are oppressed by cis-genders / feminazis); Critical Disabilities Studies (disabled are oppressed by ableists); etc. Marxists love pseudo-scientific terms.

Progressives claim they will “liberate” all these oppressed groups through government action (as controlled by the Progressive elite, which is not you), but this time around they promise it REALLY will be democratic – so long as you vote only for them and sign a self-confession / DEI Statements of Commitment and agree to fully support illegals.

Meanwhile you must let the Progressives teach your children that meritocracy, individualism, and equal treatment under the law are racist concepts and must be replaced by the “compassionate” diversity, equity and inclusion, implemented through government-enforced “DEI” programs.  Remember, this isn’t racist, because Ibram Kendi and Robin DiAngelo insist that “the only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination,” and if you think otherwise you are a racist who has succumbed to white fragility.

Sadly, many who follow this Progressive ideology don’t realize they are following Marxism.  They are just responding to the superficial messages of kindness and inclusivity. They parrot Karl Popper’s claim that we should not tolerate intolerance without realizing that Progressivism / Cultural Marxism has re-defined intolerance as any disagreement with Progressive dogma.  They also don’t realize that once power has been consolidated in the One True Party, the Red Guard who led the marches and protests are the first to go.

What’s scary is that, in NYC, the Progressive Cultural Marxism nonsense is so entrenched that the Democratic party just elected a Cultural Marxist whose father literally teaches Postcolonial Critical Theory and “the politics of knowledge system” at Columbia.
