Doral, Florida - America’s Founders hoped that our republic would avoid the ravages of what they called “factions.” These are competing political interests based on different economic, geographic, religious and other characteristics. Right after the adoption of the Constitution in 1789, however, different factions started forming into political parties.

During the course of over 200 years, a two-party system has been consolidated, starting with Democrats in 1828 and Republicans in 1854. Democrats have generally been made up of those who consider themselves outsiders in America, such as:

1. Andrew Jackson’s frontiersmen against the Virginia and New England establishment.
2. Catholic immigrants from Ireland, Italy and elsewhere in Europe.
3. Slave-owning Confederates against the Union.
4. Southern racists enforcing segregation and unequal protection under the law.
5. Jewish immigrants mostly from Europe.
6. Labor unionists, especially in the public sector.
7. Blacks starting during the New Deal and especially after the Great Society.
8. Mexicans and many other immigrants from Latin America.
9. East Asian and South Asian immigrants, despite their family focus, work ethic and self discipline.
10. Some commentators, such as Michael Barone and Joel Kotkin, have identified a new constituency in this millenium, called “barista proletarians,” made up of young, college-educated, urban, low-income, Anglos, who are unable to afford the lifestyle to which they feel that their credentials entitle them.

Today the Democrat party has been captured by a coalition of globalists, Communists and jihadists. As a result, the Democrat nominee for Mayor of New York City, Zohran Kwame Mambani, fits that profile and stands in the mainstream of the party. Mamdani personifies today’s Democrats.

Globalist from Third World

Mamdani has been featured in a video eating rice from a bowl with his hands. He may come from a bourgeois family, but he plays the role of a third-world peasant. In the video he states that “his worldview is inspired by the third world,” and the video is marked “uncivilized.” Soviets claimed that they represented workers and peasants, thus the hammer and sickle. In this video, he has the peasant role covered. He is Viet Cong!

Mamdani was born in Uganda during 1991, and his family moved to South Africa in 1996 and to America in 1998, when he was seven years old. His parents are both South Asians, his father a Muslim from Gujarat and his mother a Hindu from Punjab.

His middle name Kwame comes from the first post-colonial president of Ghana, who implemented socialist policies, much to the detriment of his country and other African republics that copied him.

His father is a tenured professor of post-colonial studies at Columbia University, and his mother is a filmmaker, including “Mississippi Masala.” They enjoy a bourgeois lifestyle in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. He was married this year in a civil ceremony to a South Asian woman animator.

He grew up in Morningside Heights, and attended a progressive school there, and Bronx Science High School, a public school with a competitive entrance exam. In one of his college applications, he identified himself as “black.” He graduated from Bowdoin College in Maine during 2013 with a Bachelor’s degree in African studies.

After college he worked as a housing counselor and a hip-hop musician. He also worked on some political campaigns, until he was elected in 2020, and re-elected without opposition in 2022 and 2024, as a New York State Assemblyman from a district in the Astoria neighborhood of the borough of Queens. In the last 10 years or so, Astoria has transitioned from a mostly Greek neighborhood to a neighborhood of new immigrants, some lawful and some not, many from Asia.

He became a naturalized United States citizen only in 2018, around 10 years after he was eligible. Citizenship represents a legal status, but not necessarily a political commitment. He has never become an American, which is a cultural construct.

If he is elected Mayor, he has pledged to oppose federal enforcement of immigration law, such as arrests by the Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) agency of illegal aliens, and also to abide by the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court in The Hague against Israel Prime Minister Netanyahu. He proposes to defund the police and introduce cashless bail.

Mambani’s website says that as Mayor he will “shift the tax burden” to “richer and whiter neighborhoods.” When asked about his plainly racist proposal, he replied that it constitutes merely “a description of what we see right now.”

Socialist and Communist

Mamdani proclaims himself a socialist, and he accepted the endorsement of Democratic Socialists of America. It should not be forgotten, however, that Lenin said “The goal of socialism is communism.” Hence, a socialist government will inevitably lead to a communist government. The Soviet Union was officially the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, but it was governed by the Communist Party. The difference in names does not mean much.

In any event, Democratic Socialism is an oxymoron. Socialism is a system of government that you can vote your way into, but you have to shoot your way out of. Venezuelans are finding that out.
Mandami’s platform includes:

1. Adding 2% to the city tax rate on personal incomes over $1 million.
2. Raising the state corporate income tax rate to 11.5%.
3. Freezing rents on all rent-stabilized apartments.
4. Building public housing.
5. Eliminating bus fares.
6. Free universal child care up to five years old.
7. Higher minimum wage.
8. Government-run grocery stores.

Mamdani’s proposal for government-run grocery stores displays a willful ignorance of history.

In 1989 Boris Yeltsin was promoted to the Supreme Soviet in Moscow, and as part of his new duties, he was sent on a trip to reconnoiter their enemy in the Cold War - - America. First he visited the United Nations in New York City and was duly impressed, but he had seen skyscrapers before. Then he visited Washington, D.C. and was duly impressed by L’Enfant’s planned community on the Potomac river, but he had seen government buildings before, including in Peter Romanov’s planned capital on the Baltic coast. Next he visited the Space Center in Houston and was duly impressed, but he had seen the Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan before.

Finally, he made an unscheduled trip to a nearby Randall’s supermarket. According to the report in the Houston Chronicle, he “roamed the aisles nodding his head in amazement.” He told the others in his entourage that if the Russian people saw American supermarkets, “there would be a revolution.” In November of that year, when the people of East Germany started to tear down the Berlin Wall, the Soviet leadership declined to suppress their revolution with force.

Another first-hand account of grocery stores under Communism comes from a story, told at a meeting in Trump National Doral golf resort, by Donald Trump, Junior. He was born in 1978 to a mother who was an Olympic skier from Czechoslovakia. When he was five years old, he was sent to spend the summer with his grandparents in Prague. They sent him to stand in the daily line for their bread ration. He has not forgotten his experience with those government-run grocery stores, and that is why he is not a Communist.

As George Santayana observed, those who do not study history are condemned to repeat it. The history studied, however, must be truthful, not the Communist propaganda found in books like Howard Zinn’s “People’s History of the United States.”

A recent survey by Pew Research Center showed that 57% of Democrats have a positive view of socialism, while only 46% have a positive view of capitalism. A similar Fox News poll found 59% for socialism and 49% for capitalism.

In a 2021 video, Mamdani said: “We can establish community land trusts to buy up housing on the private market and convert it to community ownership.” He is committed to “a new era of social housing.” As Prime Minister Thatcher observed, however, socialism works until you run out of other people’s money. Mamdani added that “The end goal is seizing the means of production.”

He believes that billionaires should not exist, and that we should have more equality of wealth across the city, state and country. He complains that New York City is not affordable to many of his constituents. His main campaign theme is to make New York affordable, but for whom? And at whose expense? As the Romans would ask: who benefits (cui bono)?

He harkens back to Reverend Martin Luther King’s longing for “a better distribution of wealth for all God’s children in this country.” Such a better distribution starts by urging their fathers to not abandon them and their mothers to not abort them, so that they may grow up in a bourgeois family that invests in their human capital. Thereafter, free-market capitalist policies, like school choice and President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, will provide them with the best opportunities to generate and distribute some wealth their way. American government should leave us free to pursue happiness, but not guarantee that we will catch it.

Charges that Mamdani is a Communist have nothing to do with how he looks, sounds or comes from, and everything to do with the failed policies that he advocates.

Jihadist

Mamdani’s positions show that he is a radical Muslim:

1. He has multiple times declined to condemn the phrases “Globalize the intifada” and “from the river to the sea.”
2. He is firmly committed to the Boycott, Divest and Sanction (BDS) movement against Israel.
3. He has claimed a difference between anti-semitism and anti-Zionism.
4. He has condemned the American bombing of the Iranian nuclear weapons facilities.
5. He has criticized Israel’s treatment of Palestinians, and called Israel an apartheid state.
6. He has failed to condemn the jihadist pogrom outside Gaza on Saturday, October 7, 2023, and has not called for a return of the hostages, but has criticized Israel for conducting genocide in Gaza and called for a ceasefire. See: https://miamiindependent.com/latinos-for-israel/.
7. In college he co-founded the chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine.
8. He has refused to condemn the Holocaust or to affirm Israel’s right to exist.
9. He has expressed support for the Holy Land Five, a group of Hamas supporters.
10. He was raised a Shia Muslim, like the Persian clerics in Tehran, and identifies with the Twelver cult.

As General Michael Flynn has observed, Islam is a political ideology, with a fake religion attached for dissimulation (taqiyya). Islam is an international political ideology, having nothing to do with racism or ethnicity. It is an ideology justifying conquest and domination.

Reverend Jesse Jackson once characterized New York City as “Jew-town,” and it has the second largest Jewish population of any city in the world. So why would they elect such an anti-semitic candidate in the Democrat primary for Mayor? At least part of the answer is that the Democrat party has become antisemitic in the last decade. Recent polling presented by Harry Enten on CNN shows that in 2017, Democrats favored Israel by 13 percentage points. Today, however, Democrats favor Palestinians by 43 percentage points. Among Democrats under 50 years old, the shift has moved from Israel by 14 points to Palestinians by 57 points.

This shift has been aided by secular Jewish leaders in the Democrat party, like Brad Lander, Controller of New York City and an unsuccessful candidate for Mayor. He has endorsed Mandani, as have other Jewish leaders, like Senator Chuck Schumer and Congressman Jerry Nadler. New York Jews should recall that Hannah Arendt pointed out the collaboration by Jewish leaders with the Holocaust.

Barista Proletarians

In the Democrat primary, Mamdani defeated his closest opponent, former Governor Andrew Cuomo, by 44% to 37%. After accounting for ranked-choice voting, he won by 56% to 44%. He received votes as follows:

1. He won 63% of voters under 50 years old, but only 37% of those 50 to 59 years old, and only 44% those over 60 years old.
2. He won only 38% of votes from blacks and 40% of votes from Latinos, while winning 61% of votes from Anglos and 79% of votes from Asians.
3. He won only 39% of non-college educated voters, but 62% of the college-educated.

Cuomo won 11 or 13 majority-homeowner State Assembly Districts, but Mandani won big in renter-dominant districts, where turnout surged driven by his superior ground game.

Artificial Intelligence is expected to reduce the job prospects of this constituency. People in New York started Googling what “socialism” was after the polls closed.

Approximately 40% of the residents in New York City were born abroad and immigrated there. Nearly 9% of all such residents are Muslim.

Mainstream Democrat

Recent polling shows that only 36% of Democrats are proud of America. Every Democrat in Congress just voted against President Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, and thereby for a huge tax increase for all Americans. Senator Ted Kennedy contacted the KGB in 1983 to attempt to undermine President Reagan.

Democrats have not changed their stripes. For example, they continue to fight for the Confederate cause. Today’s sanctuary cities and states are violating federal laws as much as South Carolina attempting to nullify federal tariffs in 1832 and firing on Fort Sumter in 1861.

Zohran Kwame Mamdani represents a predictable progression from Barack Hussein Obama, to Bernie Sanders, to Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. He also fits right in with Mayors: Karen Bass of Los Angeles, a card-carrying Communist; Brandon Johnson of Chicago, a tool of the teacher’s union; and Sadiq Khan of London, a Muslim. Vice President Vance has congratulated Mamdani as the “new leader” of the Democrat party.

Mamdani is the very model of a modern mainstream Democrat.
