Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot was just fired. New York City Mayor Adams posited it was a "warning sign for the country." He’s only partially right. The repudiation of disaster Lightfoot is a five alarm fire signal to Democrat public servants who have flouted the law and welcomed unchecked criminality under their reign.

There are some notable differences between Lightfoot and Adams. The former seems to be a true believer in Progressive ideology. Unlike Adams, Lightfoot is not known for nightly rounds at members-only nightclubs or viral videos showing off her pedicure before attending the Met Gala. She defunded CPD (Chicago Police Department) by $80 million and believes that her administration “constantly evaluat[ed] options to do everything… to make Chicago the safest big city in the country.” Statistics and more importantly voters said otherwise. In Downtown Chicago, shootings were up 220% under Lightfoot’s rule.

This is by and large where the differences end. The similarities between Lightfoot and Adams are uncanny. Both won their respective elections despite near record low interest from voters in both races. Lightfoot received 73% of the overall vote in the runoff and voter turnout was 32.89%, Adams won by 67.0% and only a paltry 21% of registered voters thought their city merited attention. Note to residents in Chicago and New York City, you get what you vote for and if you don’t vote, you get a Democrat.

Newsflash, both Lightfoot and Adams are black. This is critical because they staked their wins, and in Lightfoot’s case, loss, on race. Both obsess over their melatonin levels and use it as focal points for campaigns, framework for policy, and reasons to flout the law. Chicago, Illinois is 36.1% white, 32.9% non-hispanic white, 3.2% hispanic white, 28.5% black, 6.9% Asian, and 1.1% native american. New York City is 39.8% white, 23.4% black, 14.2% Asian, and 0.5% native american or Alaska native. Yet, despite the racism both Lightfoot and Adams mention with regularity, both were elected in areas that are majority white and not blind. However, when Lightfoot lost the election this past month, she cited it was because she is a "Black woman in America."

Both Lightfoot and Adams are major supporters of COVID mandates. Lightfoot showed up to a pre Halloween presser masquerading as “Rona Destroyer”, saying she wouldn’t cancel Halloween but would require participants to wear masks. Halloween observers were asked to show themselves by dangling a sign in the window alerting the public to their participation, follow social distancing rules, and provide hand sanitizer.

Adams, with his deep understanding of epidemiology, has stated as recently as February 12th, 2023, that he might have to reinstate all COVID mandates. But, on March 6th, 2023, less than four weeks later, said, “We are putting out a clear call to all of our shops, do not allow people to enter the store without taking off their face mask. And then once they’re inside, they can continue to wear it if they so desire to do so.”

If you don’t understand his incontinent messaging, it goes like this - Adams is worried he’ll be fired like Lighfoot on account of the public's fury with gratuitous crime. Like Lightfoot, he maintains under his watch, New York City is on the right track to reducing crime. Crime is up 47.5% in the index of the seven majors; murder, rape, robbery, burglary, felony assault, grand larceny, and car theft.

Both Chicago and New York City are also sanctuary cities. Lightfoot said, "We have people who are routinely coming to this city. We have a whole infrastructure that's built up to make sure that their rights are protected while the city of Chicago has, under the current administration, provided funding for various groups to help support asylum seekers and other people that are going through the immigration court system. I expect it will continue, if not expand upon, those kinds of resources,"

Adams stated during his campaign that the 800,000 non-citizens should be able to vote in elections and since assuming office, has treated illegals better than citizens. They’ve been provided tax payer funded luxury hotels in midtown manhattan, costing $400 per night, cell phones, legal aid, clothes, food, education, Medicaid, and bus tickets to Canada after some wanted “out of Dodge” due to crime. Now, New York City is not only reeling from the cost and deficit of services they fund which are being directed to assist the illegals, it’s reeling from the accretive crimes they bring in. Drugs, vandalism, brawls, and looting have been inflicted on New York City residents by the illegals Adams welcomed in with concierge service.

Finally, education in both Chicago and New York City is disastrous. Under Lightfoot’s watch, 55 Chicago public schools have students that can’t read or do math at their grade level, according to a new report from Wirepoints. Under Adams’ watch, as per Nation’s Report Card, New York City’s students scores on math and reading are below the national and New York state averages.

Chicago voters took all the above into account when they went to the voting booth this past February to remove Lightfoot. Should New York City voters take the same corrective steps when they go to elect their next Mayor? We’re not headed in the right direction. People are leaving, dying, and going broke courtesy of Democrat policies and Conservative apathy.
