• Oprah's Kamala-Thon Was Cringe, But It Might Lure Independents ... What's *Your* Strategy?

    Oprah Winfrey testifies (X screencap).

We're saying the wrong stuff on social media.

It's great that Catturd posted a killer meme, and yeah, that AI video of Kamala slammed DEI so hard! But guess what? Almost no liberals watched it. Why? You already know, but it bears saying:

Liberals avoid that stuff the same way conservatives won't sit through a Lena Dunham rant or watch a Tig Notaro "comedy" special. (Don't know who Notaro is? All the more to my point. (Also, don't bother, she's the least funny comedian in the history of laughter.))

--Just facts: most Americans love some or all of these actors. Quick aside: why are they all waving with two hands??

The people we should all be focused on right now are independents. And yes, they exist. They may not call themselves "independents," but what qualifies in this cycle is someone who says, "I think both candidates are awful" OR, "I'm just not gonna vote this time."

Guess who's doing a better job courting those folks? The Dems, hands down.

--Funny & true, but not the way. Cut it out for the next month and a half so we can win.

Independents did see the Catturd meme. They did watch the AI video. And they watched the Oprah special.

While we make jokes about Haitians eating pets--even though they do in fact practice voodoo and ritually sacrifice dogs, cats, and wild fowl--Democrats just put a panoply of revered actors and comedians together in a conversational format hosted by (arguably) the world's most famous woman...to promote Kamala Harris.

And it was polished. Despite all the "word salad" digs online, Harris did a decent job. Some of us are frothing at the mouth too much to have noticed. Let's not pretend we always win. We can be bigger than the Krassenstein twins (ahem) and admit it.

Some common conservative reactions online: saying that many of Oprah's famous guests visited Epstein Island. Again, we are correct! But we look foolish to the person on the fence.

That's right, not everyone went down that rabbit hole. Some people don't have the stomach to research child sex trafficking. Some people don't believe true evil exists in the world. And many of those people are saying, "I hate both candidates, I'm not gonna vote."

Which is code for, "I'll probably hold my nose and vote for Harris."

Seriously, what with JD Vance shooting from the hip while Kamala pleads for national unity, it's a wonder the polls haven't moved more in favor of the Dems.

--THIS is the way. Blame Kamala, not trafficking victims (Trump probably should have chosen Vivek).

And I hate to break it to you, but to an objective eye, Kamala won that debate. Not by a wide margin, but she kept her cool and didn't make any disqualifying mistakes. That's all she had to do to attract on-the-fence voters. Trump took the crowd-size bait and didn't really find his stride until the end. After most people had tuned out or turned off.

It's okay to admit it. He still wins on the issues, no contest.

So let's all regroup in the final month and a half. The game plan is simple: turn every objection back to the 20 million unvetted illegal immigrants. It's the one issue we win on all day, and it's Kamala's fault. And everything ties back to it: education, national security, foreign policy, national debt, all of it.

We win with immigration. And memes can help! But the insults, the racial jokes, the mean stuff--when it comes to "independents," it's not a winning hand.
