Mary E. Pearson’s The Courting of Bristol Keats is an enchanting new adult fantasy that captivates from the very first page. The story is engaging, largely due to its mature yet impulsive protagonist, Bristol. Despite her youthful recklessness, she remains a likable and relatable character, making her easy to root for.

One of the novel’s standout features is its slow-burn romance between Bristol and a fae demigod. Their chemistry is extremely well-written, and Pearson skillfully develops their connection, allowing the tension to build naturally. However, while the romance is beautifully paced, the world-building leaves something to be desired. Given that the story unfolds in a fae realm, a richer and more detailed depiction would have made the setting more immersive and visually striking.

Despite this minor shortcoming, the book remains a fantastic read. The narrator’s expressive performance further elevates the experience, bringing the characters and emotions to life in a way that enhances the overall storytelling.

With an engaging plot, a strong protagonist, and a romance that keeps the pages turning, The Courting of Bristol Keats is a remarkable start to what promises to be a thrilling series. Anticipation for the second book is already high, and it can’t come soon enough.
