I am a frequent rider of Metro-North Railroad operated by the MTA out of New York City in conjunction Connecticut and the State of New York. CDM operates three digital newspapers in the region and I travel often to the New York area for business.

I was ecstatic when the bureaucracy finally added a phone application a couple years ago, and entered the 21st century; although, there is still no wifi, which is a third-world situation.

With the election of avowed communist Zohran Mamdani, a dark trend has emerged on the train line, which will force me to stop using the app and delete it from my phone -- the MTA is geo-surveilling riders and implementing financial punishment to change rider behavior.

This is straight out of the Chinese communist party social credit score playbook.

In short, if you buy your ticket via the app on the train, and activate on the train, they are tracking you and will fine you.

How long before this turns into -- did you pay your child support? Did you eat too much beef? Did you travel too many miles in your car? Well, you can't buy a ticket to get on the train!

How long before the cash ticket machines are removed entirely?

It's creepy that Zohran knows where I am via my phone...if I'm on the train or not.

Delete the apps and use cash people.
