    The State University of New York (SUNY) announced it has added a Diversity: Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice (DEISJ) requirement for all incoming students beginning next fall at all 64 campuses.

    The learning outcomes for DEISJ include that all students will:

    — Describe the historical and contemporary societal factors that shape the development of individual and group identity involving race, class, and gender;

    — Analyze the role that complex networks of social structures and systems play in the creation and perpetuation of the dynamics of power, privilege, oppression, and opportunity; and

    — Apply the principles of rights, access, equity, and autonomous participation to past, current, or future social justice action.

    The guidance on developing courses indicates that all courses in the DEISJ category must explicitly address systemic racism, and that students must be given the “opportunity” to apply a social justice framework to address identity-based and equity-oriented issues.

    SUNY now joins Rutgers University and the California State University System by adding DEI requirements to graduation criteria.

    Apparently SUNY's DEI action plan was put into place in September 2020 right after George Floyd’s death…  which is coincidentally the same time that Greenwich Public Schools and other districts across Connecticut adopted a focus on DEI, anti-racism, white fragility, and so on.  It’s also around the same time that the Town of Greenwich conducted YWCA DIVE Training.

    If you want to learn more about the “DEI / equity / critical race theory” agenda that seems to have rapidly proliferated, especially after George Floyd’s death, and how it’s impacting what your children are learning, please join us for the May 21st panel discussion in Greenwich.

    The speakers on the panel will get to the heart of this agenda, what it really is and how it is creating more racial division, not less.
