“What's behind the increase in homeschooling [sic]”, asks Randi Weingarten.
Homeschooling has become America's fastest-growing form of education. This is irrespective of whether families hail from Manhattan or Eastern Kentucky. There’s been a referendum - families do not want what the schools are pushing.
But Randi Weingarten won’t stop pushing. She is to homeschooling what de Blasio was to Manhattanites relocating to Florida.
Weingarten, president of the AFT (American Federation of Teachers), presides over the second largest teacher's labor union in America, which has 1.7 million members. She began in 1997 as treasurer and then quickly became Vice President. In 1999, she clinched the role of President with 74 percent of the vote. Under Weingarten’s tenure, Big Ed has become alarmingly politicized and tied to the Democrat and Globalist agenda.
On the AFT’s website, its mission states; “The American Federation of Teachers is a union of professionals that champions fairness; democracy; economic opportunity; and high-quality public education, healthcare and public services for our students, their families and our communities. We are committed to advancing these principles through community engagement, organizing, collective bargaining and political activism, and especially through the work our members do.”
This AFT’s public admission that it is tied to political activism should render it dissolved. The problem is, the entity responsible for dissolving it, the federal government, could never get its Democrat caucus to agree.
Lest we forget - since the public school likely won’t teach this - education is legally under the purview of individual states, not the federal government. In 1973, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled in San Antonio Independent School District v. Rodriguez that there is no fundamental right to education in the United States’ Constitution. It is unenumerated and thus, belongs to each individual state.
The equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment says that when a state establishes a public education system, no child living in that state may be denied equal access to schooling. And the 10th Amendment states that powers not delegated to the federal government are reserved to the states or to the people. Yet, despite the Constitution, despite the Supreme Court, despite the states rights, the federal government can’t stop its lust for control over education which is ultimately a power grab.
We’ve seen the results, Weingarten. Public school enrollment is down (in terms of citizens, not illegal migrants that are used to bloat the numbers). Private school enrollment is slowly climbing, only because it is picking up former public school students. And homeschooling is skyrocketing in terms of popularity. Here’s why. Two - thirds of our nation's children in fourth grade aren’t fourth grade level proficient in reading or math. 84 percent of black students lack proficiency in mathematics and 85 percent of black students lack proficiency in reading skills. These are the kids going to Harvard, Stanford, UPenn, NYU and countless other postsecondary institutions and are subpar academically, requiring subpar “professors.” Big Ed remains focused on CRT, DEI, pronouns, gender, transitioning, climate, and as you say in your mission, “political activism.”
To answer your question, Weingarten, this is what is behind the increase in homeschooling.”
