I’m a proud Jewish republican. In fact, I supported and voted for President Trump twice. I was at the Embassy Opening in Jerusalem and at The White House for the signing of the Executive Order Combating Antisemitism. I am The Jewess Patriot.
Anyone in politics knows that success comes from successful meetings with enemies. President Trump was historically the best President for Israel and American Jews. He was a success by having representatives of Israel’s enemies meet and consent to The Abraham Accords.
Meeting with Kanye West was the right thing to do. I only wish President Trump invited me, my mother-in-law and her brother, survivors of Auschwitz and some of the Jewish leaders and rabbis that are criticizing him to the dinner. The meeting and subsequent coverage of it would have been quite different.
Just weeks ago, I sat just a table away from President Trump as he was awarded the Theodor Herzl Medallion by The Zionist Organization of America for the following:
ZOA has deplored Trump. So has Dov Hikind. Last year, Hikind paid Donald Trump Jr. to endorse Inna Vernikov in a robocall for her campaign for city council. Hikind also brought Holocaust survivors to The White House to meet Trump. The Republican Jewish Coalition hosted Trump at their annual convention last week and now has denounced him.
Jewish leadership is playing into the hands of the progressive left and misusing antisemitism. Rabbis, organization leaders and Jewish elected officials should be calling out those who continue relationships with antisemites. Trump made no statement of a follow up and any support of West. I can only hope that these influential figures aren’t using the dinner as an excuse because they want to support another candidate in a primary.
However, President Biden has publicly stated his admiration for Representative Ilhan Omar. The Jewish Secretary of State Antony Blinken had Jew-hating Israel-basher, Rep. Ilhan Omar accompanied him to the World Cup soccer tournament in Qatar this week. According to ZOA, one of the few groups to condemn him, the action should not surprise us, since Blinken apologized to Jew-hating Israel-basher Linda Sarsour after Biden aides criticized her.
Jewish leadership needs to fight antisemitism by educating the haters. Ignoring them only gives them a bigger audience.
Trump did make a few mistakes. His tweet and message would have been a success had he stated something like he was trying to find out his hate for Jews and included Jared and Ivanka in the discussions.
As for Nick Fuentes, most people never heard of him outside of politics. However, anyone, including myself, always had to have a security clearance before any meeting with President Trump. He should have declined the meeting until Fuentes was cleared.
Fuentes isn’t the only questionable person who has visited Mar-A-Lago. President Trump needs better advisors and he should listen to them if he seriously wants to win both the primary and general elections.
Fighting Antisemitism successfully means having to meet your enemy. It also means supporting the best elected officials who can sponsor and legislate supporting Jewish issues and disciplining those who spur Jewish hate and violence.
President Trump, you have an uncanny ability to do things nobody else can. No other person dominates the daily discussion like you. Please use the obsession that both the left and right have with you to stop Antisemitism.
My advice to Kanye West, take your hate out on the people you are truly angry at, The Kardashians. You could actually benefit from a nice Shabbos away from electronics, social media and enjoy a hot homemade meal with some spirituality.
